Ledo Lookup Guide
Use LeadMachine's Ledo Lookup feature to research professionals and automatically populate lead information using AI-powered web research.
What is Ledo Lookup?
Ledo Lookup uses Exa.ai's neural search technology to find comprehensive professional information about a person, including:
- Full name and current job title
- Current company and role
- Professional biography
- LinkedIn profile
- Twitter/X handle
- Personal website
- Location
- Education background
- Skills and expertise
- Previous companies
This data is gathered from across the web and presented in a clean, verified format.
How to Use Ledo Lookup
From the Dashboard (Quick Lead Creation)
The fastest way to use Ledo Lookup:
- Click New Lead in the dashboard header
- Enter the person's First Name and Last Name
- Optionally add Company for better results
- Click the Lookup button
- Ledo researches the person and displays found information
- Click Create Lead with Data to create the lead instantly
The lead is created with all enriched data and you're taken directly to their detail page.
From the Add Lead Page
- Navigate to Add Lead page
- Click the Ledo Lookup button
- Enter the person's name (required)
- Optionally add their company name for better results
- Click Search
The search returns results in under 1 second.
Step 2: Select the Right Person
- Review the search results list
- Each result shows:
- Select the correct person by clicking their entry
- Click Get Full Profile
Step 3: Review and Use Profile
- Wait while deep research runs (20-60 seconds)
- Review the full profile:
- Click Use This Data to pre-fill the lead form
What Gets Pre-Filled
When you click "Use This Data", the following fields are populated:

Data Storage
- Lookup data is stored with the lead record
- Data is deleted when the lead is deleted

Troubleshooting
No Results Found
Cause: Person has minimal online presence or name is too common
Solutions:
- Verify spelling of name
- Add company name to search
- Try different name variations
- Person may not have public professional presence
Wrong Person in Results
Cause: Common name without enough context
Solutions:
- Add company name to narrow results
- Carefully review all results before selecting
- Check LinkedIn badge for verification
- Look at job title and description for confirmation
Research Timeout
Cause: Research taking longer than expected
Solutions:
- Wait up to 90 seconds (progress shows elapsed time)
- Try again - some queries are faster than others
- Simplify the search (just name + company)
Profile Missing Information
Cause: Information not publicly available
Note: Not everyone has complete public profiles. Missing data means:
- Person doesn't have that social account
- Profile is private
- Information isn't published online
Best Practices
Before Important Outreach
- Use Ledo Lookup to research the person
- Review their LinkedIn profile
- Check recent Twitter activity
- Note shared connections or interests
- Reference specific details in your outreach
Conversation Starters
Use the researched data for personalized outreach:
- "I noticed you previously worked at [Company]..."
- "Your background in [Skill] caught my attention..."
- "I saw your article about [Topic]..."
- "We have a mutual connection in [Person]..."
Verify Critical Information
Always verify before important communications:
- Current role and company
- Correct spelling of name
- Active at that company (check dates)
- Appropriate contact method
