Social Lookup Guide

Use LeadMachine's Social Lookup feature to automatically find and connect your leads' social media profiles and online presence.

What is Social Lookup?

Social Lookup searches the web to find your leads':

  • LinkedIn profile
  • Twitter/X account
  • Facebook profile
  • Company website
  • Other professional profiles
  • All automatically added to the lead's contact information.

    How to Use Social Lookup

    Single Lead Lookup

  • Open any lead detail page
  • Click the Social Lookup button
  • Wait 3-5 seconds while we search
  • Social profiles appear in the lead's contact section
  • What You Need

    Minimum information required:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address OR company name
  • Better results with:

  • Full name + email + company
  • Professional email (not gmail/yahoo)
  • Complete company name
  • Understanding Results

    Found profiles show:

  • ✓ LinkedIn - Direct link to profile
  • ✓ Twitter - Handle and profile link
  • ✓ Facebook - Personal or business page
  • ✓ Website - Personal or company site
  • Confidence indicators:

  • High (Green checkmark) - Verified match
  • Medium (Yellow) - Likely match, verify before using
  • Low (Gray) - Possible match, needs confirmation

    In Lead Details:

  • Social links appear in Contacts section
  • Click any link to open in new tab
  • Icons show which profiles were found
  • For Outreach:

  • Visit LinkedIn before cold calling
  • Check Twitter for recent activity
  • View company Facebook for culture
  • Research before first contact
  • Bulk Social Lookup

    Look up multiple leads at once:

  • Navigate to Leads list
  • Select leads (checkboxes)
  • Click Bulk ActionsSocial Lookup
  • Confirm lookup
  • Process runs (1-2 seconds per lead)
  • Progress shown:

  • "Processing 5 of 25..."
  • Success/failure count
  • Completion notification
  • Best for:

  • New lead imports
  • Preparing for campaign
  • Updating old leads
  • Auto Social Lookup

    Automatically look up social profiles for new leads:

  • Navigate to SettingsCompany
  • Find Social Lookup section
  • Toggle Auto-Lookup for New Leads
  • Choose which sources:
  • - ☑ WordPress forms - ☑ Manual entries - ☐ CSV imports
  • Click Save
  • When enabled:

  • New leads automatically searched
  • Happens within 30 seconds of creation
  • No manual lookup needed
  • Uses lookup credits
  • Managing Social Profile Data

    Editing Social Links

    If Social Lookup finds wrong profile:

  • Open lead detail page
  • Find incorrect social link in Contacts
  • Click Edit icon
  • Update URL or delete
  • Click Save
  • Adding Social Links Manually

    If Social Lookup doesn't find a profile:

  • Open lead detail page
  • Click + Add Contact
  • Select type: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Website
  • Paste profile URL
  • Click Add
  • Re-Running Social Lookup

    Update social profiles for existing leads:

  • Open lead detail page
  • Click Social Lookup (even if already run)
  • Confirm re-lookup
  • New data replaces old
  • When to re-run:

  • Lead changed companies
  • Previous lookup was 6+ months ago
  • Original lookup found nothing
  • Need to verify current profiles

    Each lookup uses credits from your plan:

    Get Better Results

    Good inputs:

  • Full legal names (not nicknames)
  • Professional email addresses
  • Complete company names
  • Current employment info
  • Poor inputs:

  • Single names ("John")
  • Generic emails ([email protected])
  • Abbreviated companies ("ABC Co")
  • Conserve Credits

    Priority order:

  • Hot leads about to contact
  • Decision-makers
  • Qualified prospects
  • High-value accounts
  • Skip lookups for:

  • Spam leads
  • Invalid contact info
  • Test leads
  • Unqualified prospects
  • Verify Before Use

    Always check:

  • Profile photo matches
  • Current company matches
  • Job title is appropriate
  • Location makes sense
  • Red flags:

  • Different person in photo
  • Company doesn't match
  • Profile is private/deleted
  • Very generic profile
  • Troubleshooting

    No Profiles Found

    Problem: Social Lookup returns no results

    Causes:

  • Lead has minimal online presence
  • Name is very common
  • Privacy settings block discovery
  • Person doesn't use social media
  • Solutions:

  • Verify name spelling is correct
  • Try adding more info (company, location)
  • Search LinkedIn manually and add URL
  • Accept some people can't be found
  • Wrong Person Found

    Problem: Social Lookup found someone else

    Cause: Common name or insufficient information

    Fix:

  • Delete incorrect profiles
  • Add more identifying info (company, email)
  • Re-run lookup
  • Or add correct URL manually
  • Lookup Timeout

    Problem: Social Lookup spins but never completes

    Solutions:

  • Wait up to 30 seconds
  • Refresh page to see if data was added
  • Try again later
  • Contact support if persists
  • Out of Credits

    Problem: "No lookup credits available"

    Solutions:

  • Wait for monthly reset
  • Upgrade plan for more credits
  • Purchase additional credit pack
  • Manually add social URLs

  • Profile is current
  • Person still works there
  • Contact details are active
  • Always verify critical information before important outreach.

    Tips for Using Social Data

    LinkedIn Research

    Before calling a lead with LinkedIn profile:

  • Read their About section
  • Check recent posts/activity
  • See mutual connections
  • Note shared interests
  • Review their content
  • Conversation starters:

  • "I saw your post about..."
  • "We have [mutual connection] in common"
  • "I noticed you worked at..."
  • Twitter Engagement

    If lead is active on Twitter:

  • Follow them
  • Like/retweet relevant posts
  • Comment thoughtfully
  • Build relationship before pitching
  • Warm up cold leads:

  • Engage 3-5 times over 2 weeks
  • Then reach out via email/phone
  • Reference your Twitter interaction
  • Company Research

    Use company website/Facebook to learn:

  • Company culture
  • Recent news
  • Products/services
  • Team size
  • Company values
  • Show you did research:
